Say Hello To SHINee And Their Newest Kpop Song

By Simon Stawski

Lucifer was quite possibly one of the most popular songs in the kpop world this year. And, only a couple of weeks after SHINee said goodbye to Lucifer, they came back with an entirely new song, Hello. It is very different from Lucifer in many ways, and may disappoint some, while appealing to a whole new crowd of people.

1) SHINee have changed their image, again. Lucifer showed them to be mature and powerful and in control. They looked seriously, rubbed their lips seductively, and didn't smile at all. They meant business to their "loverholic robotronic" girlfriend. Now, with Hello, those days are over. They are now back to wearing rainbow outfits and being sweet and cute. This new song has more of an appeal to tweens than it does to adults, and the images between Lucifer SHINee and Hello SHINee are almost irreconcilable.

2) The dance is also quite simple compared to the dance in Lucifer. While Lucifer seemed like an entire kata sequence from a Karate dojo, Hello is more of a cute greeting. The signature move is just a wave of the hand and a saying of "hello." Nothing fast paced or complicated to remember. It's very welcoming and sweet. It's a very simple dance, and - as a result - may upset the fans who are interested in seeing SHINee's dance skills.

3) There are amazing similarities between SHINee's Hello and Mohammed Ali's "Holla." In fact, if you listen close enough, you'll realize that they're the exact same song, only SHINee's song is in Korean. This isn't to say that the song was stolen from Mohammed Ali. The rights to the song were legally and rightfully purchased.

Altogether, SHINee's Hello will be a disappointment to fans of Lucifer and Ring Ding Dong, but will appeal to young teenaged girls very well. Hopefully, SHINee will be able to balance the interest in both markets, and continue to be a huge success in the Kpop world. - 42265
