As A Child Learns How To Play Songs On Guitar

By Frank Morris

Guitarists who produce beautiful melodies say that music comes alive when you learn how to play songs on guitar. Perhaps you have heard the rhythms of the Tango played on guitar. The sounds in Mexico City, the guitar music rings through cafes to let tourists know there is no doubt they are on a Mexican holiday.

The easiest way to begin is with a guitar and someone who is very skilled at playing chords on the guitar like C, G and F. These three chords are suggested first because you can actually strum a tune if you know them. The other major chords to learn to play are D, E and A. All you need to begin is a few days of practice getting used to making the correct sounds as you learn to move your finger positions from each Major Chord to the next.

Many youth and young adults begin learning from a skilled friend who will mentor them along the way. A fortunate person will be able to pay for private or group guitar lessons. Most musicians believe lessons are needful for any artist to go to higher levels of development on their instrument. This means learning notes on your instrument and how they blend together to make other harmonies.

In some schools today there is still the belief that music comes alive when it is played on any instrument. Whether it is a class of kindergartners beating out rhythms on a tambourine or a bongo drum, music is alive in that classroom. When rhythm is learned early the next step is learning notes and chords. The same principle applies to learning the guitar.

It sounds exciting and maybe you are ready to give it a try. Learn the first three major chords and start strumming. You can start with Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and make up a few tunes of your own. If your finger tips hurt when playing, this means you are a beginner, it happens to everyone. Calloused fingers will protect you from the pain as you continue to play.

You guitar teacher will give you assignments to help improve your skill. Practice is the key to playing an instrument. Soon you will begin reading music and playing scales, chords and little songs. It is the way you learn so be patient and remember everything from your training.

Remind yourself often of your goal and why you want to learn to play. As you heard songs on guitar it made music come alive for you. It might have been the beat or the special melody of the song playing. Your day is coming to make music live when you learn how to play songs on guitar.
