Learn How To Train Your Voice

By Pamela C Smith

Did you always want to know how to train your voice? Have you always wanted to be a good singer , then this article will give you all the information you need. The way you sing depends on various factors like your posture, volume, breathing and emotions. These basic guidelines will help you to get started.

Posture: It is important to stand when you sing. Your feet should be placed apart at shoulder width. Since locking your knees for long may cause you to faint bend your knees. Stand with your back and neck held straight. Tilting your head upwards or downwards will help you to hit the high and low notes respectively. You must be careful to not tilt your head sideways as this may cause neck pain and will make you look peculiar. Maintain a relaxed forward gaze and relax.

A good way to monitor your breathing as you practice is to place your hands on your stomach. If you are breathing properly, you should inhale silently filling your lung. It is important to breathe through the nose and not the mouth. Correct breathing will make your abdomen and diaphragm expand upwards and contract as you let the air out. When you breathe out make sure that it is done slowly and evenly so that you can conserve your breath to hit the high notes.

The right mouth shape when you are singing is round, small and circular. By opening your mouth too wide or too less you will restrict the movement of air, so you should be careful to not do so. If you want to create fuller and rounder sounds you should try to increase the size of the mouth cavity. Start by elongating your jaw slightly and resting your tongue at the bottom of your mouth will help you create better sounds. By doing so you are trying to increase the hollow cavity inside the mouth.

You should also try and pronounce each word clearly without slurring the different consonant sounds in a word. When singing certain types of songs you may have to stress on some of the words.

It is important to sing loudly enough for you to be able to hear yourself. If you cannot hear yourself there is a good chance that you will sing off key. However it is important to remember that singing softly or loudly should take the same amount of breath. If you experience vocal strain you are not doing it right. It is important to use diaphragmatic breathing through out the song to control the volume variations. A cue is to bring your right and left hands forward one after the other to increase volume.

Finally it is important the emotions be reflected on your face if you want them to be heard in your voice. A smile will simply not create the correct effect for a melancholic song what you will need here is a somber expression. - 42265
