Backing Up Files And Rapidshare Search

By John Wilde

Computers hold many files, all of which of course the owner feels to be important and worth keeping. These files can take the form of documents, spreadsheets, music files, graphic files and video files. The importance of these files of course always necessitates some back up plan or procedure. When uploaded to a file sharing site like rapidshare, a directory like rapidshare search is needed.

Most backups are done on the same PC. That is when a new user presses the backup button on the utilities menu, he or she unwittingly uses some valuable space on the drive. The more they do this, the more space is used up. In the beginning it is a good practice, but as time goes on it can be disadvantageous due to loss of valuable space on the hard drive.

To help minimize on space use on the hard drive, one can use other media external to the PC. External media such as CDs, DVDs, and USB hard drives are usually the preferred and common methods. Once they have been used though, they must be kept in a place safe from dust, moisture and heat.

The main disadvantage of a physical backup on external media is that it can get lost or forgotten. Most people may forget where they have placed it or stored it. Thus when it happens the whole exercise could be actually quite futile. Therefore a good alternative is online backup and storage of your files.

Many solutions that provide online backup of your files are available. These allow you to store your files on servers that are connected to the world wide web. Some of these sites have free services while others you have to pay a minimal membership fee that is usually renewable after some time.

To make the transition of backing up locally on your PC to using online backup service providers, you will need a fast and reliable connection. This is important for no one likes to wait an eternity to upload megabytes of files. It is also important to note that using an online site entails the risk of data loss due to server crashes or the fly by night web service that suddenly closes its doors. It always pays for a little investigation on the reliability of the service.

However, some sites do provide an extra back up for the files you upload. Usually bundled with a membership fee, this extra service can at least give you some assurance. Sites that have this service should be the ones you should consider.

Once an online backup service provider has been chosen, you can have the option of sharing these files with others. And if you are using Rapidshare, then this is where the rapidshare search engines come into play. These search engines, filesmore.com being one of them, assists users in searching out the uploaded backup files of these servers so that they can be downloaded. However, the info generated by these search engines may take a few hours to days to refresh so one has to be patient if he or she cannot seem to find the files they want.
